Sorting Out the Name
“Harris Technologies” is a phrase that shows up in searches around the space economy, and it usually points to L3Harris Technologies, the defense contractor formed by the 2019 merger of L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation. It is a large, diversified government contractor whose electronics, sensors, and communications gear end up on satellites, rockets, and military systems. For the purposes of the Kiyosaki space campaign, it is context, not a pick.
The name confusion matters because there are other “Harris” companies with no connection to aerospace. The relevant one for space investors is L3Harris, ticker LHX.
Why Defense Contractors Show Up in a Space Pitch
The space economy and the defense industry overlap heavily, and that overlap is exactly where the Kiyosaki campaign’s satellite-imagery pick gets its customer list. Planet Labs, the “All-Seeing Eye” pick, sells to the National Reconnaissance Office, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the German military, and the Swedish Armed Forces. Those agencies buy imagery from companies like Planet Labs and build their own systems with hardware from companies like L3Harris, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.
That is the real connection: the space economy is not just rockets and tourism. A large share of its revenue is government money flowing into surveillance, communications, and launch infrastructure. What It Means for Investors
L3Harris is a legitimate way to own the defense side of the space economy, but it is a $40 billion-plus defense conglomerate whose space exposure is one segment among many. The same caveat we applied to Linde applies here: a huge, diversified contractor is a fine company, but “space” is a small part of its story.
For investors who want the space theme specifically, the more direct routes are the imagery and launch names and the space ETFs we discussed in the Launch Cheat Code teardown. For those who want defense exposure, a name like L3Harris is a reasonable place to look, but understand what you are actually buying.
