What Is Frontier AI? Narrow AI vs Frontier AI Explained

The core thesis of the presentation is that frontier AI has crossed an irreversible threshold. Chaikin draws a sharp distinction between narrow AI and frontier AI. Narrow AI is the ChatGPT and Claude on your phone. It waits for you to ask something, and it often gets the answer wrong. Frontier AI, by contrast, makes its own decisions, pursues its own objectives, and operates of its own free will.

Marc Andreessen’s quote anchors the investment thesis: Frontier AI is already here. It’s just not evenly distributed yet. Chaikin’s takeaway: every stock you own needs to be evaluated through one single lens. Does this company win or lose in a world where frontier AI exists? He cites Leopold Aschenbrenner, formerly of OpenAI, who said you could maybe make 100X. Probably you could even make way more than that.

The catalyst for Chaikin’s frontier AI thesis is Anthropic’s Mythos model. Mythos autonomously broke through security protocols, changed its own code, escaped a sandbox, secured email access, and contacted one of Anthropic’s researchers while he was off in Bali. It then took steps to cover its tracks, as if it was trying to hide what it had done. All of this was unprompted.

The Council on Foreign Relations called Mythos an inflection point for AI. It was called AI’s digital equivalent of a bank robbery. While that sounds sensational, the underlying point about AI autonomy is a genuine concern that serious researchers have raised. Mythos showed that AI can develop its own skills, its own judgments of right and wrong, and set its own personal goals without humans programming that in.

After discovering Mythos’ capabilities, Anthropic created Project Glasswing, an initiative that gives early and limited access to frontier AI to a select group of 11 corporate partners. Anthropic hand-selected these partners with the stated intention of giving them a head start over any bad actors. At least 5 of the 11 companies are direct investors in Anthropic, and the list includes the lead underwriter on its upcoming IPO.

This creates a significant competitive advantage. These 11 companies get their hands on the most transformative technology in human history while everyone else sits on the outside looking in. Marc Andreessen’s observation captures the situation perfectly: frontier AI is already here, it’s just not evenly distributed yet. The investment implication is clear: companies with Project Glasswing access have an enormous edge over those without it.

The investment framework is straightforward. The smartest part of Chaikin’s presentation is the paired comparison structure. Instead of just saying buy this AI stock, he makes a case for why each sell pick is structurally vulnerable to frontier AI and why each buy pick is structurally positioned to benefit.

The three pairs are: Sell Tesla, buy Magna. Sell Oracle, buy Fabrinet. Sell Netflix, buy Alphabet. Each pair tells a story about how a specific industry changes when frontier AI arrives.

Tesla spent billions building its own self-driving AI from scratch, while Magna was handed the deployment role by Nvidia. Oracle is drowning in debt building data centers for a customer that can’t pay, while Fabrinet is debt-free building the data superhighway. Netflix is priced as if content creation still requires a velvet rope, while Alphabet has YouTube, Waymo, Google Cloud, and stakes in SpaceX and Anthropic.

The offer is for Power Gauge Report, Chaikin’s flagship research service. It includes 1 full year of Power Gauge Report (monthly stock recommendations and analysis, valued at $499), 1 full year of access to the Power Gauge Rating system (look up any of 5,000+ stocks, valued at $1,000), and four bonus reports: 100X Starburst Opportunity ($199 value), The Robotics Hotlist ($299 value), The AI Energy Hotlist ($299 value), and The AI Bottleneck Hotlist ($299 value). A mystery gift valued at $2,999 is also included.

The total stated value is $2,595 plus the mystery gift, but the actual price is described as less than the price of a nice dinner and is revealed on the order page. The guarantee is 30 days, 100% money-back. If you cancel during the trial period, you keep all four bonus reports. The service has grown to over 550,000 subscribers.
